According to the 2008 World’s Billionaire Special Report released by Forbes, the Sage of Omaha - Warren Buffet has toppled Bill Gates from the number 1 spot as the richest person in the world. Warren Buffet’s wealth rose by about $10 billion since the last report, to a total net worth of $62 billion. Bill Gates, who held the title for about 13 years from 1995 until 2007, dropped to the number 3 spot, with Mexican telecomunications tycoon, Carlos Slim rising to number 2 on the list with a total net worth of $60 billion. Bill Gates added about $2 billion to his net worth in the past year, and now is worth $58 billion dollars.

Others in the list includes Indian steel mogul Lakshmi Mittal at 4th with $45 billion, Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad at 7th with $31 billion and the world’s richest woman Liliane Bettencourt at 17th with $22 billion. The list also included the youngest ever self made biilionaire, Mark Zuckerberg who founded Facebook. The 23 year old is worth $1.5 billion, and is listed 785th in the list.
